Vitality costing more than it is worth

I just want to inform people who are thinking of joining Discovery Vitality that the "rewards" not definitely not worth the effort. You are of course expected to pay a membership fee, but you get hardly anything back in return. More importantly, unless you have hours available every day to check your purchases against your points, don't bother! I keep track on every purchase that I make where I am supposed to get a discount, and believe me, when you find your discount has not been awarded, it can take six months to get that reward. And biggest problem is the staff at Vitality haven't got a clue what qualifies for a discount and what not. You have to do your own research and read what's on the Vitality website (remembering that this changes very often so don't think you can rely on what you read last month)! I purchased All Bran flakes at Woolies for instance on 16th June, it was not reflected on my till slip as a vitality product, although I know it is a Vitality product, I informed Discovery, earlier this month I got a phone call to say my query has been resolved and the 25% discount on this product will appear on my next statement. Needless to say, we got the next statement and still no discount. Last weekend I purchased two packs on Gen-Payne from Dischem, these are schedule 2 over the counter meds - according to the Discovery website all schedule 1 and 2 meds quality for the 25% discount. It was not shown on my slip as vitality qualifying products. I wrote to Discovery about this, got an email back saying they need my slip (WHICH WAS ATTACHED TO MY EMAIL BUT THEY DO NOT EVEN BOTHER TO LOOK AT ATTACHMENTS!). I send the slip again, and got an email yesterday saying I must read the rules because it says these products do not quality. I wrote back to them to say that THEY are the ones who must read the rules, I enclosed screen shots of the list of products that quality but I doubt it that they will even bother to read it. I can go on and on about instances such as the above. More importantly, Dischem increases prices by 25% and then pretend to give you a 25% discount. A while ago News 24 had an article where they proved that Dischem is 25% more expensive than Medirite or Clicks! We also purchased a printer last month from Incredible Connection (a Vitality partner) - we paid R4 499. Our points increased by 44 - that is 44 cents! Big deal. So anyone thinking of joining Vitality, some good advice, you will pay a fee to Vitality every month, and the rewards and minimum, and you have to spend hours and hours checking on them all the time (and speaking to staff who have no idea what the are talking about).
