Vitality changing IWatch offer - is this a ****?

The option to use an iwatch to assist with monitoring fitness was a welcomed bonus on the Vitality scheme in addition to the other benefits of having such.

But now Vitality are moving the goal posts!

I asked today to speak with an advisor whom could discuss with me the formula behind the 'goal' setting after I was told that I cannot use my swim workouts towards my points totals. This is a huge disappointment as I am a swimmer first and foremost. I needed to establish how I would maintain my points balance to ensure that I continue to benefit from the Vitality offer to pay all contributions towards my watch. But apparently this information is not available! why? I managed to ascertain that the current cap is 1200 per week. 7 daily gym visits = 700 points. Meaning I have to take at least two pool sessions into the gym weekly - The swimmers are being discriminated against - not a happy customer! And just how far are the goal points going to grow by over the two years as now we hear of Vitality changing the rules in April - which will severely impact on how we earn points making it very difficult for us to reach our goals!

Was this a con to make us pay inevitably

Hello Disclosure,

Thank you for your post.

Vitality is a wellness brand and we strive to deliver on Discovery's core purpose of making people healthier. To do this, we need to reward members for clinically relevant, and verifiable exercise.

To ensure our benefits work optimally to achieve this objective, we need to constantly refine them to meet the feedback of our members as well as adjust to how we see the impact on behaviour of the benefits.

We acknowledge that the loss of points changes will impact our members on Vitality Active Rewards and we have therefore decided to recalculate every Vitality Active Rewards members' goal in order to account for these changes.

There are also many ways to earn more points in a day when your goal increases beyond this level including parkrun, heart rate tracking, and Vitality race events.

Regards,

Discovery Vitality
