Vitality and sportsman's warehouse cash back issue
Was persuaded in joining a certain discovery medical aid scheme in April this year mainly to get on the vitality craze in the hope of saving money and getting fit along the way. I went and bought "the watch" at sportsman's warehouse, started park runs and was buying food on their healthy list. Then the fun began. Firstly, Garmin of all watch brands had an issue linking with discovery so I patiently waited until the issue was fixed to start earning my points off my heart rate. No biggy just missed out on earning my weekly points which probably effects my cash back (you never know as there are so many flippen T's and C's). This cash back is now my second and main concern. To date I have yet to receive any money back for the watch and after calling their help center it turns out there is another technical issue with vitality and sportsman's warehouse. Apparently watches bought from sportsman's aren't registering with vitality. So on the app it still says I haven't bought my watch and they can't give clients money back. I then went to sportsman's warehouse to find out about this and they weren't aware of the issue at all, still promising cash back to another customer while I was there. I have also received points from buying healthy food but have no cash back yet for that.
There is no means of tracking all your cash back on their app. It randomly comes into your account (apparently; heard via friends) and you don't know what you are earning it for. I also have no sure proof/means of knowing if my purchases from sportsman's or woolworths or any other partners affiliated to vitality are actually being tracked. Is there no way once you've made a purchase from sportsman's or the other shops you have selected as your preferred partners can filter through into the vitality app? And will this cash back/registering issue be fixed with sportsman's? Additionally, I can only see my fitness partners on the app and what's active or not. Some examples: my healthy gear says it's active and then also says it's not active. My healthy food is active with woolworths as my preferred partner but not sure which of my cards is linked (I did however call in again to double check this and updated vitality with my recent card. Still would be nice to see evidence of this on the app). My park run took me 3 runs until the first one finally came through as points but on the fitness partners it says not registered. It appears that there are other bugs that need attention but I am not feeling safe to make future purchases hoping for cash back.
So far I am not impressed with the overall functioning of vitality and the way in which they manage issues/complaints. When calling in about the Garmin linking issue and cash back issue both times I was told the only thing I can do is wait until they get resolved, leaving me checking everyday if my Garmin could connect and still waiting for cash back for my watch purchase in April.
