Unfairness of Discovery Vitality amendments

Discovery Vitality may be saying that they are individualising the program, but my experience is the member has to adapt to the program, not the program to the member. Also if your a partake in long distance events, you got the short end of the stick with the 2 April amendments.

I've already complained to their Customerv Service department, but it just fell on deaf ears. At best you get a copy-paste responds.

I'm a runner. In the past you were able to earn points for races, but since 2 April only certain races are Vitality Verified. And irrespective of the distance (10, 21 or 42), it now only counts as steps and steps are capped at 10 000 per day, earning you amaximum of 100 points. This versus doing a 5km Parkrun, which earns you 300 points. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Parkruns, anly using it as a comparision and wanting to understand their rational. Don't they want their member's to advance their fitness?

The responds I got on above question was they "don't encourage members to earn points solely by taking part in one long, vigorous workout or event, but to rather through several moderate intensity workouts". But this is not I want, because as a runner, you cannot leave all your running only for the weekend, you have to put in the km during the week to better your weekend performance. And anyway where is the individualisation of the program? And is moderate not a relative term? For someone just starting, 1km may be vigorous, but for a marathon runner, 10km or even 21km may feel like a moderate activity.

Vitality is saying they want to base pounts on heartrate, but only if you wear certain devises. I own a Fitbit Surge, which is effectively after the 02 April Vitality Reward amendments, an expensive pedometer because I only get points for steps. All my fitness activities are heartrate based and because I wear it 24 hours of the day, should be more accurate measure of fitness compared to fitness strap worn for a hour in the day?

Active Rewards:
They've now increased my Activity Rewards target at 700 points, with the stated limitations, it effectively means I have to exercise 7 days of the week. When am I suppose to rest? Is rest also not as important as being active?

In closing, I think the Vality program is a great program. With it, I achieved a weightloss of close to 30kg, but the amendments is an unfair limitation on members who genuinely wants go improve themselves.

All I want, is just to be treated fairly.
