Points allocation biased against some consumers
Vitality no longer awards points for completing very popular road races (as they used to under 'outdoor sport activities') unless you own an expensive fitness device, and in races that use specific timing devices. This is blatant bias against some of its consumers/members, and surely must be contrary to the Consumer Protection Act? (which I shall be checking). I live in Johannesburg and the only time I use my RaceTec timing chip is for Two Oceans 21k, which is in Cape Town. Some of the races in Joburg are timed, but often by ChampionChip, which is not on Discovery's list of recognised timing devices.<br> i see no reason to buy an expensive fitness device - i have been running for 30 years without one. I run between 12 - 14 x 21km races per year, and many 10k and 15k races. Now all of those must go unrecorded, unless i pay money to buy and use a device? that is blatantly unfair and discriminates against runners who cannot afford these devices. I shall be cancelling my Vitality membership if this is not changed.

Vitality has moved towards only awarding members Vitality points for data that has been verified and sent to us post-race. By receiving this timed and verified data at the end of a race, we receive proof that members have completed an event.
We would like to continue to offer Vitality members more opportunities to take part in other events and earn points, and will consider other timing companies so that we can expand the Vitality race calendar. These additional timing companies need to integrate with us and send the results for their respective races.
We realize there aren't enough road races on the calendar and we are currently working on solutions to try and include more of these events and we encourage our members to check the calendar continuously for new events. In the interim, there will be certain events where the timing company hasn't integrated with us and we`ll not receive the results, however, we will be at these events with a points station for members to be able to come past and earn their points for this event.
