PAID MEMBERSHIP, NO RUNNING LICENSE OR KIT
On Friday, 19 December 2025, I went to the Discovery store at Menlyn Maine because the day before I had tried to join the Vitality Running Club and pay the R860 membership fee online. Despite numerous attempts, the Discovery Running Club redirection page did not accept my bank card details. As a result, on Friday, 19 December 2025, I explained my difficulties to the assistant at the Discovery store. The assistant advised me to pay the amount of R860 via EFT to account number *** and to send my proof of payment to ***. I made the payment immediately while I was still at the store, as I wanted to join the running club in time for the beginning of January. After sending my proof of payment, I received a reference number: ***. On 27 December 2025, I resent my initial email to the same email address but received no feedback. On 7 January 2026, I resent my proof of payment again and received an automated response with reference number ***. On 7 January 2026 at 12:35, I called Discovery Vitality and explained my situation. I informed the consultant that all I required was an acknowledgement and welcome email to the Running Club, with instructions to collect my running licence and kit. I was assured that the matter would be resolved within 3–5 working days and was provided with reference number ***. On 13 January 2026 at 10:43, I called Discovery again to follow up and was once more assured that the issue would be resolved. On 14 January 2026 at 12:19, I contacted Discovery again and received the same assurance as before. On 20 January 2026, I called Discovery to follow up once again. I was later called back and assured that I would receive my welcome email by 23 January 2026. I am exhausted by the amount of follow-up I have had to do and extremely disappointed, as it is now the end of January and I have still not received a running kit or a running licence.
At this point, I am requesting a full refund of R860. The running season began weeks ago, and Discovery has failed to deliver on its commitments.
