Empty promises

I recently joined Discovery vitality and while speaking with the agent, one of the selling points was that since I already have a discovery bank account I would also receive R1000 from my selected food partner as this is a running promotion. This excited me since I knew this voucher would come in handy with the current economy state.

I was told for so long as I use the discovery bank account within 30 days of having the vitality account I am guaranteed to get this voucher from the food partner. I was also advised that it doesn't matter where I spent this R1000 so long as it's spent I would benefit and get the R1000 voucher.

I have actively put money into my bank account so as to reap this benefit since I knew I would need this voucher to enable me to feed the kids this month. I've used some of the funds as I was told to do and figured I should contact vitality just to understand how exactly will I receive the voucher once I've spent this R1000.

Imagine my disappointment when the vitality agent and bank agent tells me what the actual terms are. I am now being told that I need to have taken up the bank account with discovery only since 01/09/2024 (I've had mine for over a year or 2 now) and also being told I need to actually have spent the R1000 at the chosen food partner. Which I haven't done.

I am utterly gutted and have no idea what to do now. I was relying on this to ensure the kids especially are fed and I did everything I was initially told. Please assist in Looking into this. I would appreciate the initial terms I was advised of to be honoured....
