Discovery vitality and its shifting goalposts

I should first and foremost say that Discovery Vitality does provide a valuable service for many members but their manner of going about their business leaves a lot to be desired. Over the years Discovery Vitality has shown its incredible propensity to shift goalposts. The latest in a series of knocks to members have been varied. One tactic was to decrease the points awarded for gym visits from 150 to 100 points. This would scarcely be noticeable by most people but it would certainly make a difference to a member's Vitality status and consequently rewards. Another means of earning points, the non smoker's declaration has been removed so that members can no longer claim their points for not smoking. Presumably not smoking is no longer a prerequisite for being well. But as long as it precludes members from achieving an extra 5000 points then all is well and good. But triathletes have it made, not that they need any encouragement and not they are less prone to heart attacks while on the go, which they seem to have a propensity for all too often. But if you're a super athlete these days you have it made. If you're an ordinary mortal then perhaps you shouldn't bother trying because Discovery Vitality no longer rewards mediocrity. You need to be super fit to get anywhere right from the start as is shown by the lavish awarding of points by Vitality for 'real' sporting events. Another gripe I have is Vitality's skewed concept of eating and using a one size fits all approach. Five vegetables, five fruits and loads of carbohydrates. Again, this may be a solution for the revered super athlete but is definitely not a solution for people with high blood glucose levels. Discovery Vitality makes no distinction here but if you're a high powered athlete the diet should suit you well so don't sweat. Then, many benefits are introduced with much fanfare but afterwards disappear with so much as a whimper, for example the partnership of Builder's warehouse. The latest news from Vitality for credit card users is that the present maximum cash back from certain partners such as Toys R Us or Xclusive books of 20 percent will be removed and replaced with a multiplier for points of 10x which seems to work out to be a substantially worse deal for most members. Members are never consulted and informed in a really impersonal dictatorial manner after relying on a particular benefit. I could go on but I'm sure you get the picture.
