Discovery Vitality (Active Rewards) is an Elitist program that discriminates against Lower income households

<p>My wife and I were very excited to hear about the Vitality Active Rewards Programs.</p> <p>There is no way that my Wife and I can afford the R1500pp joining fee at Virgin Active on the Vitality program. We have been using our Stepcounter on our Cellphones, Free ParkRuns and Runkeeper (Free Celpphone app) to earn points on the Vitality program. After Runkeeper was discontinued on the program, we stepped up our steps taken per day and started doing more Parkruns. We have been working really hard and focusing on our Fitness with Active Rewards in mind.</p> <p>After finishing our first Road Running Race this morning, we decided to rewards ourselves with a Free Smoothie from Kauai on the Vitality Active Rewards App. We headed down to our closest Kauai at Cradlestone mall to only find it inside the Virgin Active. The Receptionist informed us that they have been instructed that nobody is allowed to enter the gym, even to go to the Kauai, if they are not Vitality members. We headed to Key West, to find the same true.</p> <p>There is no Kauai that is not inside a Virgin Active, or Vida e Caffe that is not a Petrol Station Store, within a 20km Radius from our home.</p> <p>It seems that the Discovery Vitality Program has, through its exclusion of free apps and only using of stores inside Virgin Active, shunned the members that cannot afford exubarant Joining Fees. Our small Family has not got close to R3000 to join a Virgin Active, and Discovery Vitality has completely disregarded us and people like us.</p> <p> </p> <p>R3000 once off, or driving more that 40km to get our free smoothies, does not feel rewarding at all.</p>
