Discovery Vitality - a real downfall and disappointment

The New Discovery Vitality rewards program is a clear sign of the business model deteriorating... its just a matter of time before customers will run to Momentum's Multiply as it offers bigger flight discounts and shopping savings through TakeAlot, Edgars and Russel Hobbs. Momentum Multiply has a better value for money and sustainable approach.

I have been a Discovery Vitality client for the last 5 years, not only were the benefits better than now but the inconsistency of their APP's accuracy is becoming annoying. My concern is that you pay a monthly fee to have access to benefits, not only is the benefits less now, but the inaccuracy of the APP makes a person feel that they are somewhat trying to withhold benefits from customers.

For instance, before you could hire a Box Office movie, Nandos side salad or Woolworths Sandwich or Wrap with 25 points, which was achievable within 1 week. For the same reward now, it will cost you 350 Discovery Miles. This means that when you reach your goal, you get 100 Discovery Miles and a play on the gameboard for each goal you achieve. When you turn a tile which ranges from 55 to 200 for most people, it is guaranteed that it will take you more than a week to reach that milestone. Also, if you do not get the higher tiles and get the 55 Discovery Miles all the time, it will take you even longer to buy a simple WRAP :)

The other issue i mentioned concerns the accuracy of the APP, there is the Gym visits portion and the step count (using the right device of course). For the last 3 weeks, I have reached my goals and the APP says DID NOT ACHIEVE GOAL. After calling and sending emails they have rectified this part of the issue, how many other customers does this happen to and they are not ware of it? The other issue is that every week that you achieve all three goals, you'll get an extra play on the gameboard. This has never been awarded to me... Why must the user check and verify everything if you are paying for something that clearly is not trustworthy?

This raises big concerns... Discovery are you realizing now that your rewards program is not sustainable or was it part of the long term strategy to attract customers and then drop the bom on them later?

I definitely am in the process of searching for alternative medical aid, life insurance and reward programs.
