Discovery is my supposed 30% discount on flight tickets just a marketing ploy?

Discovery Travel, how is it possible that with my 30% discount you are more expensive that the airline site itself, for the same seating. Is this simply a marketing ploy that you do not intend to honour? Please help me, as I really do not understand. And yes I have phoned travel and the excuse that was given is simply ludicrous.
