Discocery Vitality Membership

In November 2024, I joined the Discovery Medical Aid Scheme. Later that same month, I received a call from a Discovery Vitality agent who introduced me to the Vitality membership. I informed the agent that I was not interested in joining. However, he mentioned that I would receive a free three-month trial of Vitality and that i should call him back in January if I decided to continue with the membership. Since I had no interest, I did not call the agent back.

The Vitality membership trial ended in January 2025. At the end of February, I noticed that my medical aid debit was higher than usual. Upon investigating, I discovered that the Vitality membership had been linked to my medical aid, and Vitality had deducted double payments for January and February 2025.

I attempted to contact Discovery without success until around the 10th or 11th of March 2025, when I finally spoke with someone in credit control. I explained the issue and requested clarity. I was told that I should have called in December or January to cancel the membership, and they would not refund the debited amounts because i have not called to ask for cancelation which i understood and on that day I insisted on cancelling the Vitality membership and continuing only with the medical aid payments. The agent agreed and sent me an email confirming that the Vitality membership would be canceled at the end of April 2025.

However, on the evening of April 30th, I came across an email sent on April 28th, 2025, stating that R399 would be debited on May 1st, 2025, for Vitality—despite the cancellation agreement.

The frustrating part is that it's hard to even get hold of them, they always advice people to call but they do not pick up their calls or the will transfer my calls from one agent to another agent then end the call and that is frustrating.
