Changing the rules!

I have no problem with the way Vitality have changed the allocation of points for fitness events. I do have a major problem with the way the have changed the acceptable devices & apps.

I have used an iFora Diamond Mini glucometer since Discovery first recommended it as the best device to test & upload blood glucose results to them. Effective 2 April this device is no longer acceptable and I am told I must get an iHealth meter and app or I can't upload my glucose test results!

I used a Garmin HR monitor with chest strap to upload my heartrate from my daily 40 minute workouts to Discovery but after my pacemaker implant, it no longer worked! I can only use a strapless HR monitor and have used a Mio Alpha I imported from the US for the past 2 years and uploaded my workout files via Mapmyfitness. Effective 2 April, no more as I don't have a Suunto or Tom Tom!

A Garmin Forerunner 235 would suit my application replacing my Mio Alpha + smartphone but as a 68 year old pensioner, I can't afford to lay out R5600 on a Garmin, much as I would like to. I guess I will just battle to maintain my Diamond status henceforth as I need those workout & diabetes management programme points!
