Beyond disappointed and let down by Discovery!
I've had a discovery life cover since the early 2016 to now, and the vitality programme was a part of the life cover. In over 4 years of the cover, 1/3 of the premium went towards vitality, even though I didn't feel like I was receiving any benefit from it. Two years ago I wrote to discovery to request them to cancel the vitality programme from my life cover so that I can save R275/month. I waited months to receive responses from discovery and when the response finally came it was that removing Vitality would impact my policy. The impact was not articulated. I followed up over and over again without appropriate responses. I eventually managed to get a hold of the vitality help line and was told that my vitality program offer was not activated. Why did I pay for premiums for 4+years when the offer was not activated, meaning that I was not getting the benefit anyway?! I spoke to a service agent at vitality a month or so ago who promised to send me all the details that I need to understand vitality better and I received nothing- to date. Every year, I would receive communication from discovery about my life-cover and the increase in premiums or the cash back received - but not once along with this annual update did I receive an email saying informing me to activate the vitality profile in order to get the full benefit. I need an answer. I need all my vitality premiums, prior to activation to be refunded. What is the point to deducting a premium, that is not serving the customer in any way. How do you deduct a premium for an inactive programme - how does that work?
