Apple watch as a HRM for points
I have been using my Apple Watch to track my workout sessions and for past few weeks and have noticed that whenever I am doing intense workouts with a lot of hand movements like 24 the Apple watch heart rate sensors gives wrong readings. For example, at the peak of 24 workout when I am totally out of breath, the Apple watch heart rate sensor will show heart rate as 51, but the heart should be in excess of 150+. Today, I borrowed and wore a Polar heart rate strap and watch on one wrist and Apple watch on other wrist while doing 24 workout. Many times during the workout the Apple Watch was showing heart rate at around 52 while the polar was showing heart rate at 150+. I wear the Apple watch snugly so it's not happening because it's loose. looking online it appears that the apple watch isn't effective as a heart rate monitor for intense exercise. I'm all for Discovery motivating the users to not just swipe their card at gym, but to actually track the heart rate, but think it's completely wrong to put pressure on us to achieve high heart rates in order to get points when the apple watch isn't designed to work when doing these intense exercises.
