Apple watch Active Rewards

Good day, I will post my email correspondence to Discovery just after this. I have tried everything, but seems now I am just being ignored. I would not post to public site like this, if this was not my absolute last resort.

I activated the Apple watch on Vitality Active rewards. Getting the watch was easy. Unfortunately, the there was something wrong with the watch's heart rate monitor. It was very inconsistent and took ridiculous readings like 52 beats per minute while I just ran around the block. I took it back to iStore, and it was replaced. After about two weeks with the new watch, I took it back again, because of the same problem. They replaced it again. I had the third watch about a week, before I took it back again. When iStore wanted to replace the watch a forth time, I insisted that I really don't want another one. Seems like the problem was going to persist. iStore was very helpful. They did not have a problem with it. They told me that there is a return policy in place between Discovery and Apple. They will just inform Discovery that the watch has been returned and they have to stop billing me.

Since last week I have been trying to get Discovery to stop billing me, but now they tell me I cannot return the watch. The watch has been returned. It is done. I've tried to speak to someone there. The moment you click the number to direct you to fitness devices or Active Rewards, the phone disconnects. It has been doing that for weeks. My emails are also being ignored at this stage. My last email I did warn them that I will complain on a public platform, but unfortunately, I haven't heard anything from them, again. I am fed up.

Herewith the email responses:

My email send on 1 June:

Good day!

I activated the Apple watch on Vitality Active rewards. The watch gave me a lot of problems. After iStore replacing the watch four times, and it still being faulty, I have now returned the watch. iStore told me that they will communicate from their side that Vitality must stop billing me for the watch.

I want to confirm whether or not you received such communication?

I also need the penalties that was deducted for the watch, to be refunded to me. First of all, the watch was returned, so the full purchase price will reimbursed by iStore. Secondly, the weeks that I did not make the goals, were the weeks that the watch was handed in at the Apple Support Centre.

Their response on 3 June:

Dear Mrs Van Eeden

Thank you for your email regarding your Apple Watch.

If the Apple Watch is in for repairs for a period longer than four weeks, we will require proof (an invoice from the repair centre) showing when and where the Watch was taken in for repairs and the duration the member was unable to use the Apple Watch.

Kindly forward the below information to us so that we can be able to assist you further with your query.

If you have any more queries, please visit our online Vitality support page: www.discovery.co.za > Vitality > Vitality Support for a range of troubleshooting options.

Regards

Kedisaletse Molefe

Discovery Vitality

My response on 3 June:

Hallo Vitality

I am always surprised at the response that I get from Vitality’s emails. I get the idea that you only read half of what I’ve written and send some template response. I wish your phone lines would connect so that I don’t need to keep sending emails.

I will say again. The watch has been returned. I don’t have it anymore. It was returned at iStore Menlyn on Tuesday. You have to stop billing me for the watch immediately. Because you will be refunded the full amount of the watch by iStore, I expect to refunded as well.

Regards

Their response on 3 June:

Dear Mrs Van Eeden

Thank you for your email regarding the Apple Watch benefit.

Please be advised that we have had no communication from the Apple Istore regarding the return of your Apple Watch.

Also we do not accept returns of the Apple Watch but we are on the verge of launching a campaign which allows Apple Watch users to return their watches

to us and cancel the benefit. This will only be launched in this month.

Please contact the Apple Istore regarding your watch and further your query with them.
We will keep members updated on the launch of the Apple Watch returns via newsletters and the Discovery website.

If you have any more queries, please visit our online Vitality support page: www.discovery.co.za > Vitality > Vitality Support for a range of troubleshooting options.

Regards

My reponse on 3 June:

Good day

I do not accept the fact that you don’t accept returns. It was returned. It is done! They even charged me a handling fee of 10% the value of the watch to return it. iStore was very clear that they will communicate to Discovery, I don’t need to do anything from my side. They said that Discovery will be notified within 24 hours and that this is an automated process. Why would they know the procedure, but Discovery does not? Attached is the credit note plus the receipt of the handling fee I paid to get rid of it.

The watch is faulty. They replaced it four times. That is why they agreed for me to return it.

Please, get a manager to phone me. I tried to get through, but the moment you choose the number for Vitality Active Rewards, the number disconnects, it has been doing that for weeks. I want to speak to someone, that knows what going on. Don’t tell me I can’t return it. It has been returned. Now please fix this.

Regards

Good day. I was in fact contacted my Marvin last week Tuesday. He asked that I need to give him 48 hours, then he will revert back to me. Still waiting to hear from him. Since Friday I again send emails to Vitality Escalations, I tried phoning, I cannot reach him. So it is one week later, and still, no progress...
