Tight-fisted Discovery Life
I took out a Discovery Life policy on 1st February 2009. Been paying a lot of money since then. I hurt my knee in March. Just 6 weeks after starting as an aftercare teacher. Despite a rest period my knee did not improve. A knee replacement operation is necessary. I had to resign from my job. I could not go on. The driving was hurting my knee. After a struggle I could upgrade my medical aid. Waiting for an operation in August. I am single and find it hard to cook and clean. Can't expect friends and family to help me the whole time.
As I have an income continuation benefit, I thought it would pay for the period after the op so that I can pay somebody to help me. My off balance with a big risk of falling.
What upsets me is: I submitted the necessary documents last week It is a big effort to ask someone to take me where I can print and fax the documents. Now I must do it again! Why repeating the info? Why waiting for a report from the dr after the operation? Too late then to organize for a carer.
The only conclusion: Money and not service is the important thing here. The assessor(s) have no idea about nursing and risks of imobile patients. Ironic: the premium that I have paid since 1 feb 2018 till now is more than enough for what I need now.
