Severe Illness Benefit Claim

I would like to express my utter disappointment with Discovery Life and manner in which my Severe illness benefit claim has been handled by this insurer over the past year. I have been contributing to a benefit on my policy for the past 12 years, only to be told today that although my condition is part of the severe illness benefit cover, the severity of my illness needs to be so extreme that vital body parts need to be removed in order to justify a valid claim and even then, you would “possibly” be considered for an approval. People, be aware of products/benefits you think you have with said insurer, you only realize the lack of cover and red tape when you need it the most. It’s been a year long struggle with this claim with countless hours put into challenging these giants of the industry with the relevant ombudsman. If it were not for benefits relative to my life cover and my eventual demise from this illness, I would have zero to leave behind for my wife and kids. I would have certainly cancelled this policy months ago knowing the smoke and mirrors on both the Brokerage and Insurer part. There only aim is to get money out of our pockets.
