Repugnant ************** against pregnant women

<p> </p> <p>I'm 32 weeks pregnant and recently app**** for life cover and income protection through Discovery Life. Post my medical I was notified that my initial quote would increase by over 30%, due to increased loadings as a result of high cholesterol, which is a scientifically proven symptom of pregnancy. Such significant loadings as a result of being pregnant are highly discriminatory against women.</p> <p>I have been a Discovery Vitality member for over 10 years and not once have I ever had high cholesterol, and in fact received double points for healthy cholesterol measurements. This is a clear indication that my resent cholesterol readings are a result of me being in my third trimester of pregnancy.</p> <p>I am offended and shocked that Discovery, being a company that specializes in medical cover and protection, don’t take the effects of pregnancy on women into account. When people grow their families they are naturally going to look into increasing their life insurance - taking advantage of this and adding extra loadings due to a direct result of pregnancy symptoms is repugnant.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
