Incompetence and ********* Company Procedures

I was a discovery client from 2008. Recently I moved abroad on a PR but kept my life policy. I called in July to cancel my policy and spoke to an agent called Lalie who managed to retain me as a customer. He informed me that I can keep my policy and sent me a foreign travel form to fill and send through. There was 1 issue that was troubling me and that was if I get my citizenship what will happen to my policy. I asked Lalie on numerous emails from July and he finally responded saying he has sent my query to the underwriting department (11 Aug). Frustrated at the lack of response and communication I called in October and was given another process and new forms to fill. I was then given a counter offer which was not viable and requested to cancel my policy. if Lalie and the team advised me promptly I would have cancelled in July when I called through. He did not know the process and if he did not persuade me I would have cancelled then. I am higly irate at the way my business was handled and the lack of communication from your team. Discovery have also accepted that the issue was theirs. So, where is my refund. I asked a manager and this is what I was told:"

Regrettably we are unable to backdated the cancellation, the reason for this is that should you have claimed within this period Discovery would have honoured the claim.I will however waive the 30 day notice period and cancel the policy wef 01/11/2016, please complete the attached refund document so that we may refund your R257.46.

Once again, please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused. " I am not psychic to know the company I trusted will lie and deceive me with their process. This is an ********* standard of behaviour and code of conduct. I request my refund from July. If your agent was unsure on the process instead of retaining my business and making his monthly target he should have looked at the interest of his client. Kindly address. Thank you
