Discovery Life Wrongfully Cancelled my Policy

Discovery has cancelled my policy even though I was paying to the correct reference number ( ********** 985) for around the past one and a half years. They recently decided to cancel the policy out of the blue. This cancellation is not my fault at all and is seemingly due to negligence on their side. They wanted me to do a verbal declaration of health. The reason the policy was cancelled is because the Discovery Life computer system allocated my payments of both my policies, to the policy ********** 8**.

I have been paying to the same reference number for around the past one and a half years, however only recently there seems to have been an issue with how the computer system allocated my payments.

The reference number that I used is correct, as it reflects the same in my policy schedule, furthermore, I was instructed by a Discovery Life representative to pay to this reference number: ********** 985.

When I called in to Discovery recently they said that there are two different reference numbers for both policies, however my policy schedule reflects otherwise.

The payments were all made within the required grace period, and were not over 90 days in arrears.

Please investigate this matter and lodge an official complaint with Discovery Life, if needed, this would need to be reported to the ombudsman for investigation.

Discovery Life wrongfully cancelled my policy, and now they are strong-arming me into signing a declaration of health to reinstate the policy, because it was cancelled by the underwriters as well. This is largely ********* and I believe it would be a straight forward case for the ombud’s office to review.
