Beware of Discovery Life's ************** and hidden fine print

Hi All,

I advise you to rethink about making use of Discovery Life. Their main agenda appears to be not to assist it's clients as stated but to enrich themselves by depriving it's hard working and paying clients of the assistance they require from the policies they have been sold.

They promise heaven and earth regarding their income protectors and then hide all the fine print behind a very open ended document that has more holes than a sieve.

I have an income protector with them as a self employed business owner. They feel that I am high risk as a Tradesman, this being said upon claim and not upon initiation of the policy. Shadey business practice wouldn't you agree?

Upon complaint to Habibah Didat and then referals to the nameless underwriters and then to Sean Gallagher the run around given is something of note.

I have referred the matter to their complaints resolution committee which the promptly sent me someone else's claim...mistakes can be made by anyone granted, however I feel this is not the first nor the last that discovery has made regarding my situation.

In the past I have had only the best service from Discovery and have been loyal to a fault, promoting them to all and sundry, however I find myself having to withdraw my favourable comments and tell the sad truth of the facts.

Discovery Life's Shadey Practices are going to leave many a person in the lurch. Please be very very suspect of them.

The reply states that Discovery Life will perhaps reconsider honouring their policy should my work scale down to 20% labour.

This was never the original agreement, and is laughable. Discovery Life discriminates against Tradesmen as we are deemed to be higher risk. If not for the risk why would we need an income protector Preveshen?

Does it make sense to anyone out there to take out an income protector and then to be unable to claim for 30 days...what happens in 30 days to differentiate between a Professional person and an average Joe in a situation that requires income protection.
