Absolutely frustrated with Discovery life

I have a life cover policy with Discovery since May 2018. Policy number- ***

I am going through financial difficulties, hence I asked my Broker to cancel my plan. I sent my Broker a signed cancellation letter on 17/08/2023, and he advised that this policy was cancelled. Discovery tried debiting my account in Aug 23.

On 26 September 2023, I checked with my broker again to confirm if this policy is cancelled and he said yes. But Discovery debited my account for R1560 on 27 September 2023, and my bank charged me a penalty of R147 for not having sufficient funds in my account. Today (28/09/2023), I had called the Discovery Life contact centre, and they confirmed that nothing was cancelled on their side. After few minutes, I got an email stating Your Acknowledgement of Cancellation -MailRef#***#.

This is very poor service from Discovery that someone on their side missed and never actioned my cancellation letter. I want Discovery to cancel this policy with immediate effect and refund me the R147 penalty charges that was charged by my bank .

I need this matter resolved within the next 24 hours.
