Why Specify if they pay LESS

WHY HAVE I GOT INSURANCE? have got specified items on my policy with discovery for the exact reason that it is my and my Husband wedding bands that have been hand crafted and specially designed one of a kind by a SPECIFIC Jeweller when we got married. My husband ring was lost/****** and I put in a claim. This company will not pay me out the total value of my ring? They have priced my hand crafter one a of a kind ring at a jeweller that makes rings for the local bulk shops. Their jewellers that make rings like this use cheaper products so the ring is valued at a cheaper price. And they will value my ring a the their cheaper price that they made it at. Why do we then pay for the insurance on a specified items? When you car is busted you can take it to whoever you like..... when you computer is damaged you can get a computer from any shop you like. so what makes jewellery so different?? I even said they must pay the jeweller direct. Erwin the person I spoke had not sympathy for the importance this ring has for me. Think a little more customer service with empathy will take this company a long way but at the moment for me THEY SUCK!! but there is much more to this story that's missing
