WHAT AN INCONVENIENCE!!!!!!!!!

On 4 January my vehicle was ****** from my premises and was recovered a few days later. The process of claiming and receiving a courtesy car was very fast and at this point i was very impressed with the service I was receiving. I even got a call from their trauma concierge who offered counselling services, which i was also very impressed with.

I met with the assessor at Bredren Auto Body on 18 January 2019 to assess any damages that were not due to any fault of my own (but as a result of the *******) so that they could fix these minor dents and scratches as well as replace the lockset and fix any other damages.

My claim was authorised on the 23rd of January and Bredren Auto Body started work on my vehicle on the 24th (this being the first day that they started texting me giving me progress updates on my vehicle). From 1 - 13 February, I received the SAME text message, which stated that my car was in line for painting - how does it take 2 weeks to paint a car??? During this time, my courtesy car had to be returned (7 February) and i had make my own plans (Ubers) to get to and from work on weekdays at my own cost.

On the Discovery app, completion date was noted as the 18th of February but till TODAY, 1 March 2019, I am still without my own vehicle, still without a courtesy car, still making my own arrangements at my cost to get to and from work, still do not have a completion date and will still be expected to pay full excess as and when my vehicle will be ready and in my possession.

Needless to mention that I escalated my claim to a manager on 21 January 2019 as I was aware the progress reporting on my car showed very little movement and was hoping to get my car back in line with when I would return my courtesy car (7 February 2019). I have still have not heard from the manager my claim was supposedly escalated to.

To my knowledge, the entire purpose of having insurance is so that one is in the same position they would have been in if an unfortunate incident did not occur but at this point - I am worse off!!!!! This has been not only a huge inconvenience but a continuously costly one. With little feedback and communication from Discovery itself considering this is their service provider that they elected and not myself.

I live in a residential area where regular and cheaper public transport (taxis, buses, trains) is not easily accessible and it would hours to get to work which is essentially not that far in kilometres. This means that I am taking Ubers which is +/-R150 one way. This is R300 a day. With no car since the 7th of February, this is 17 days (only counting work days) and this amounts to R5100 - which is already R1300 more than my excess. I wouldve hired a car if I had known that my car would take this long but as mentioned, the app said my car was estimated to be completed almost 2 weeks ago.

As soon as I have my vehicle in my possession, I will be shopping for another service provider. This has been the slowest, most tedious, most expensive inconvenience of my life - this is also taking into account that I was ******!!!!
