What a surprise - they disappoint me once again.
I logged a claim with Discovery Insure on Saturday, 29 August 2026 following an accident. During the assessment, I clearly explained that the vehicle had damage to the front bumper, as well as significant damage to the left rear door and side mirror. I was subsequently contacted by Discovery Insure and given the outcome of the assessor's report. However, the report and quote only dealt with the front bumper. The main damage to the left rear door and side mirror was completely excluded. I had to contact Discovery Insure myself to ask why I had not received a quote for the door damage. I was then told, for the first time, that because the damage resulted from "two movements", it would be treated as two separate claims. My biggest issue is the complete lack of communication around this. Why was I asked to obtain a quote for the damages three days ago if I apparently needed separate quotes for separate claims? Why did nobody explain this to me at the time of the assessment? Why did I have to phone Discovery myself to find out that the original assessment did not cover all of the damage? Had I not called, I could quite easily have taken the vehicle to Renew-It believing that the entire claim had been assessed. They would then presumably have proceeded with repairing only the bumper, while the damage to my door and side mirror remained unresolved. The call I received from Discovery Insure today, 4 September at 09:22, was also particularly disappointing. Instead of receiving a clear explanation and assistance in resolving the issue, I found the interaction unnecessarily rude and frustrating. There is also a second issue that I find extremely concerning. The quote provided for the bumper repair is based on replacing the bumper with second-hand or aftermarket parts. I pay a significant insurance premium to Discovery Insure and expect my vehicle to be repaired to an appropriate standard. I do not understand why I should be paying a premium for comprehensive insurance only to have inferior or non-original parts proposed for the repair. Overall, this has been a very disappointing experience. The accident itself was frustrating enough, but having to chase Discovery Insure for basic information, discover that part of the damage had effectively been left off the assessment, and then being offered inferior replacement parts has made the claims process unnecessarily stressful. I expect better communication and service from an insurer that I pay a substantial premium to every month.
