Watch out before joining!! Too good to be true!
Left my previous insurer of 20 years and joined them 8 months ago on grounds of their premiums and benefits.
Now they changes their benefit structure regardless of my contract thats not even a year old, I suddenly meed to upgrade (increase my premium) to qualify for getting less cash back than i signed for. Not to mention that Discovery used their cash back to convince me to change.
I changed nothing on my side, no change in risk factor or premium but they halved my cash back.
They advertise that you get more rewarded but its a lie, we are worse off. They reward you for driving less by increasing your drive points but pay out for the lesser between the two, petrol spent. In is reverse logic!! You need to put in more fuel,( drive more) to het rewarded more?!! No consideration for their loyal/existing customers. At least OUTsurance’s benefits are consistent and when updated benefits you more than penelizong you. I should have stayed. Better service, better business integrity. Embarrassed for convincing my friends and family to make the change based on product value.
Discovery - you are following the same downward spiral as ebucks. Counter-effective
It is not my views, it is the actual facts.
Let me show you the reality:
2500 - 3000 points will give you Diamond status. - [The only way I can now achieve my 25% cash back]
Minus 300 points if you havent been with Discovery for 3 years
Minus 300 driving points for distance:
To get your fuel cash back you'll need to put in more fuel than reward points [ R3000 fuel is 142 liters, which is equal to 2300km driven ] this means you can never achieve Diamond status which mean my current max cashback percentage is 17% (used to be 25%)
With the average cell phone battery that runs flat due to your device draining it (uncovered trip), and the every now and then pothole that you need to swerve( cornering or taxi jumping the stop street ( Braking) I end up with 2150 points which puts me on 10%
This means I can never get my 25% cash back, No one can that hasn't been with you for three years. On top of that, I had to increase my monthly contact to R300 000 just to hopefully get my 17%. Suddenly I need to up my plan for the poaaivblity of 50% but then again, your advertised R1500 cashback at 50% is also impossible.... do you see the pretentious side of your adverti*****t.!!
Then to keep and eye out for updates!!! There is already so many requirements from you, know to manage updates, doesn't become a reward. It becomes a business that needs to be managed. To include that I need to pay R75 per car to need to do all this effort!
My wife and I both have a Discovery bank account and we were on the brink of moving all our banking from FNB over due to an effortless reward system and better banking fees.... but regrettably if this is how Discovery does business, promising a product that changes this drastically, justifying it by 30days notice.... WHICH I NEVER GOT... I am glad we didn't fall into the same trap as our insurance.
I need to look my friends in the face, knowing that I gave them false promises on Discovery's behalf, making them leave their institutions after years of loyal support.
Your stained your brand, by kicking those who supported you in the knees.
