VM Polo Damages Caused by Brick on Highway
I will strongly advise anyone thinking of joining Discovery Insure for short-term insurance not to do it. No matter how many promises they make , when it comes to paying a legitimate claim Discovery Insure will look for any excuse not to pay. I recently hit a brick on the N2 coming from the port at 17h45 in the evening I had extensive damage on the underside of the car on the side that I hit the brick, the next day I took the car to have it repaired as I needed the car for commuting, and paid for the damages myself with the hope that I could claim back the damages from Discovery Insure. After nearly three weeks of waiting after I had submitted all the information necessary for the claim, I was phoned by a Discovery Consultant informing me that the claim had been rejected because Discovery did not have the chance to assess the damage. Trying to explain why I had the car repaired I was simply told that was the decision of the accessor irrespective of the circumstances. Once more Insurance companies are very quickly to collect their money when its due to them, but when a client needs to claim for something that happened which was beyond the clients control, the insurance company will leave you out in the open to die because they don't care, simply because of the rule book which was written to always favor the insurance company.
Shame on you Discovery Insure, due to this attitude, I'm contemplating cancelling all my Discovery Policies that I have which amount to a significant monthly contribution out of my pocket.
Its always the easy way out by an insurance company to throw the conditions of contract at you, instead of reviewing the case based on its merits. With this attitude I will be cancelling my short-term insurance and moving my life policies and endowments to your competition. I will also be cancelling my medical aid and closing my Discovery Banking.
