Vitality Drive system has serious flaws

I recently moved my short term insurance to Discovery Insure. The premium was not the cheapest, but Vitality Drive rewards made me decide to take the insurance. I had a call from a representative of Discovery to ask if I am happy so far and whether I had any questions. I queried the Vitality Drive app and the fact that I get penalised when i used my cellphone, although it is a hands-free , factory fitted kit in my car and all the controls handling the phone, is on the steering wheel of the vehicle. A query was locked - reference no ********** 950. After two weeks and no reply, I phoned again and ask the consultant what happened to my query and I had no reply. He told me that the technical department responded in saying that if the phone is lit for longer than 2 seconds, it as activated as the phone is in use. What a pathetic excuse. So even if you do not answer the phone, it will still record as a call. My response was then their is a serious flaw in your app. He told me he will get back to me after consulting with the technical department, Needless to say, no reply yet.

I have proof of a person using a phone while driving, also on the Discovery plan, but no phone activity detected. Seriously? To test the system further, I personally texted while driving, again no phone activity picked-up. You still want to say to me that your system is working properly? I doubt it. My friend and I drove somewhere one evening, he was driving and I was the passenger. Bluetooth was on the record the driving for scoring. I used the phone while we were driving, not even him, yet again a yellow star for phone activity.

Please send me the statistical proof of studies that were done to state using a hands-free phone kit in you car is more dangerous than not using it or texting while driving!

Another flaw I picked up is the braking scoring. Another issue. I was driving on the highway, N1, at the correct speed and the traffic was flowing. The next minute, the cars started braking which in turn I had to do as well. I received a Red star. What is the solution here then. Just continue and drive into the car in front of you? Happened again yesterday when a taxi just pulled of from the side of the road in front of my car. Again, Red score for braking. So, me as a client of yours are getting penalised for trying to obey the rules as far as possible?

Another incident, from pulling of at a Red robot, turning and taking the on-ramp onto the highway, I received a red star for cornering - going at the normal speed and accelerating to join the oncoming traffic. Ridiculous, to say the least.

My wife's vehicle has not the tag installed yet, yet she received a mail with an excellent scoring for driving. What the f...? Explain this to me. Also full service history recorded. How? Both the other vehicles have full service histories, yet nothing on your system.

When I spoke to the consulting who did the quote for me, I was never told I had to get a roadworthy test done at Tiger Wheel & Tyre, with an additional cost for the client. When my wife took her Ranger to Tiger Wheel & Tire to collect the tag, the consultant took a book, walked to the vehicle, came back and said she must pay R95.00 No explanation why and she watched him all the time. He did not even spent Two seconds at the vehicle, just walking around it and came back. She was extremely surprised and overwhelmed about this whole incident, yet paid the amount requested. When I queried that, I was told it is for the roadworthy test. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU TELL YOUR CLIENTS ABOUT THIS, otherwise another rip-off. R95,00 for 2 seconds is a rip-off anyway. If the roadworthy test is not done, will this then be used against a person with a claim?

The above and your message refers. When do you plan on getting back to me on the issues raised. It seems that you are not intended to do so or your non-reply is an admission to your Vitality Drive program is a ****. If I do not get a satisfactory answer by the end of the month, I am going to go full out to make the public aware of this "****" and to avoid Discovery Short term insurance, before regretting moving or taking insurance at your company. I have enough proof to state my claims and consulted my attorney accordingly. Without prejudice.
