Vitality drive encouarges some bad driving habits
I am often penalised for speeding in 2 types that I believe are counter-productive to "Healthy Driving" One is speeding as soon as a new reduced speed limit zone starts. I can see based on the GPS coordinates that Discovery expects me to be below the new speed limit immediately after the new sign. Sometimes this is a drop from 120km/h to 80km/h. If I am in a queue of vehicles, the new sign is not visible until I am close to it. Your system then expects me to then brake sharply to reduce to the new speed before passing the new speed limit sign. The traffic authorities give a 100m grace distance to allow vehicles to reduce speed safely before they are legally allowed to fine. Yet Discovery encourages poor behaviour. The second is penalising me for speeding when I am briefly speeding while overtaking. An example of overtaking a long truck doing 90km/h in a 100 km/h zone while not exceeding 100km/h is stupid and unnecessarily dangerous. I would speed up as conditions allow me to quickly overtake so that I can return to the correct side of the road in shortest time, even if this means exceedingly 100km/h briefly and then reduce speed to below the limit once past the vehicle I have overtaken, yet your system will flag this as speeding, yet it is the safer thing to do! Your system penalises for every 10 seconds of speeding. I propose that your system should not penalise for the first 10 seconds at all. This will allow for better safer driving in both the above circumstances, while still continuing to penalise drivers who are actually constantly speeding.
