****TY DISCOVERY

I was involved a car accident in April and two months later, my claim is still not resolved.

Firstly the assessors state that my vehicle needs to be written off as they indicate that the damages are more than the value of the vehicle. I proved them wrong and the as*****t report was sent for another opinion and Discovery decided to pay me out on the actual damage and not on what was over exaggerated by the assessor. However the twist in the tale is that Discovery has removed my vehicle from the policy without prior notificiation and the reason been is that the original assessment was for the vehicle to be written off. The other remarkable thing Discovery has done is back-date the vehicle been removed from the policy (without any notice) the day after the accident even though my monthly premiums were taken out timeously (they now want to refund me so that I dont make a fuss of this).
Despite the calls and emails to the claims manager who doesnt bother to respond, my claim is still hanging in the balance together with the queries as to why it is been removed from the policy despite Discovery agreeing that the vehicle is not a write off and can be repaired.

Not only this, it seemed that my claims handler allocated to my case was the owner or big boss in Discovery as I only got to speak to him 3 times in this whole process. I have never been with such unprofessional insurance before...

The highlight was the fact during storage of my vehicle, items were ****** from the vehicle however Discovery does not want to take responsibility for the loss and advised me that all the items were delivered to me. I have photographic proof that these items were not in my vehicle when delivered to me.

Discovery also wanted me to sign the agreement for the payout as per the quotation sent to them, however there is a clause on it that stipulated that my vehicle will become the property of Discovery Insure once payment is done! How can the vehicle become Discovery's when they accepted to repair the vehicle and not write it off.. This clause took extremely long before it was actually removed and the correct documentation sent to me for signing.

The only time I received a call from my claims handler is when I advised them that I am handing this case over to the Ombudsman as Discovery is bull****ting me around.

The biggest catch is that they advise you will receive 50% cashback on fuel for amount spend however it depends on your driving s**** - I have driven taking into consideration how to be the best driver but still the points received doesnt even cut it for the amount of monthly premiums we pay.

Discovery Insure is a *******!!! Makes me wonder if all the other services they offer are as bad as this!!!

Good day Sakhe,
Please be advised that I have consultant my legal advisers and we are not in agreeance to the outcomes you have spoken to me off.
Firstly you have agreed that the vehicle should not have been removed from the policy however as of now you want to put the vehicle back onto the policy and back date the policy to the date of the accident... It just shows how easy it is for Discovery to rip a person off....
I will still persue this case further as I am not happy with the service I have received and will further use this site and together with reporting this case to the Ombudsman for intervention....
I do hope that Discovery will open their eyes to see the wrongs that are been done to their customers.... I will definitely not move my whole financial profile to Discovery as I have seen the amount of **** they do to a customer....

Please be advised as per discussions had, that the vehicle was assessed and confirmed as a write-off due to being uneconomical to repair, you however opted to get alternative quotes which excluded certain items from the initial quote.
And as a result we cannot be held accountable should additional damage be discovered during or after the repair work has been done.
The vehicle assessment and decision still remains as a write-off, and due to this fact we cannot cover it on the policy comprehensively, up until a time that it has been repaired and is AA approved, as was discussed.
We can cover the vehicle on the policy as third party fire and theft, the vehicle will need supporting cover in the form of household content or building cover, without supporting cover we cannot cover the vehicle on its own.
