Turning Clients away
I have been a Discovery client for about 2 years now left for a month then returned and insured my home content plus two cars with them. The new policy was meant to commence on 25 December 2018. Today I called in to make some changes to my policy before commencement of my debit order, specifically to add one car and remove another. I am using my uncles car so naturally want to insure it as I am taking over payments from him, however upon me prompting the agent that I want to give him the registered owners detail he tells me since it's not registered under my name Discovery cannot insure it, but one of the other cars on my policy was insured and the car isn't even on my name either. The agent I spoke to at that time was advised of this and told me it's fine I will still be covered and if anything happens I get paid out etc since I am paying for the policy, which made sense to me. Now this other agent today tells me a different story today. Effectively they cannot insure me and the car they've already accepted on the policy has to be changed to my name before 25 December 2018 or I will not be covered. I am very disappointed and upset as I was being very transparent and no one can explain this logic to me of no insurance if the car is not under your name. I would think Discovery would value the business I am bringing, so now I have to cancel my policy and look for insurance elsewhere it seems. I would like for Discovery to sort this out and explain to me why I cannot be covered when I am paying and carrying the risk? How do you have different messages being given to clients one says you can be covered and the other says you cannot...?
