Total ******* on excess for claim.
I am so disappointed with Discovery Insurance. I have been with this Insurer for a number of years now. I am a single woman, living in Jhb. I joined Discovery because I needed peace of mind to know that I will not struggle should anything ever happen to me or my assets.
I have their medical aid, insurance & even bank with Discovery. I am not a reckless person which is why I found it absolutely absurd that I would be asked to pay R2200 premium on my car & household insurance. When I asked why is my premium so high, I am told that it is my risk profile. Mind you, I have high risk friends who pay less than I do. Nevertheless, to ensure my safety & peace of mind I have been coughing up monthly. I have claimed only once since I have been insured with discovery & it was for a broken apple watch.
I was mortified today when I put in a claim for my cars mirror which was ********** by *******. The total cost of repair would be R7000. Discovery will only pay out R1700 because they claim my excess is R6000. Between them & my broker, I am completely disgusted & mortified at such a blatant *******. How on earth am I paying a R6000 . excess on a R2200 premium for a Mercedes. I have never authorised R6000 excess. My friend owns a fleet of 6 sprinters and She pays an excess of R6000. This is such a *******.
