The Illusive 1000 Drive Points from Discovery Insure

Do not bargain on reaching a 1000 points in order to qualify for your discount, even if you drive like Miss Daisy... I reached the 1000 points and then miraculously 10 points were deducted on a day WITHOUT incidents and I ended up with 990 which seems quite convenient for the insurer. 8 Points were also deducted for a day on which I didn't drive at all - yes, their policy states that on a 'no drive' day, they deduct an average of what was deducted from you over the last 30 days - I had the insurance for 3 days, that day. Over these 3 days I think I might have been deducted 3 points in total, so how then do you get to an average of 8 points? They are full of empty promises when you sign up but tread carefully as that is exactly what it is, empty promises as no matter how good a driver you are, you will not reach those illusive and unobtainable 1000 points. Almost forgot, when you brake for a goat (yes, I live in a rural area) or a genius in an Avanza, points are deducted from your tally as well. So should you just crash into these things and claim from the insurer for the damages? I don't think so but anyway who am I to say, I am just a client and will only be until the end of this month.
