The business partners you keep

My car was part of a collision and as part of Discovery's panel, Eljoney Executive Body Repairs handled the repair of my car. I was told when i dropped off my car at the panelbeaters that I will recieve daily smses and pictures stating the progress of the work done on my car. This was not the case at all...I had to call the shop every morning to find out. Everything seemed to take twice as long to do. I finally....after tons of calls was told that my car is ready for collection on the 2nd of March.

I arrive at the panelbeaters, fill out all the paperwork to release my car and I am told someone will bring it to me. I waited close to an hour and finally my car arrived; looking like people were trying to polish it in haste while i was waiting, and bear in mind that I was told the previous day that I cant get my car yet because it is being polished. The person who brought,on the spot told me that the headlight that was supposed to be replaced is not available yet and they have put on the old one and they will tell me as soon as they have it so that I can come in for fitment and get my car the same day. But upon inspection of my car that was not the only issue, my chrome bezel bidding that was broken during the accident had not replaced too and the person who worked on my car seemed surprised and it was the first time they saw this. They had to take pictures and contact Discovery to get authorization to buy this part. The headlight being on back-order seemed suspicious and I called Hyundai parts division to find if really these headlights are not there and not to any surprise they had stock and told me that if i want one i could have it in 2 days. Considering my car went in to the panelbeater on the 15th of February, where were they trying to find this headlight? Well this week(on Monday) after calling Discovery and complaining, the panelbeater said parts will be ready for my car on Tuesday or Wednesday. I call the panelbeaters this morning to find out and yes they do confirm that my parts have arrived and they want to book in my car only next week for fitment. I was not happy at all about this, my car was there for half a month and they could not sort it out and why should i wait any longer for them to finish their work? I call Discovery and they try to get hold of the panelbeaters....and this time the story has changed; now they are not sure if all parts for my car are there?????

These panelbeaters have been jerking me around the entire time that my car was there. And since well this is the panelbeater that is on Discovery's books, I hold the insurance liable for the bad service they have subjected me to; for having these chancers on their panel. Is it because they are a cheap option? Why is care not taken in selecting the people who will uphold high standards of service promised by the insurance? ALL I WANT IS FOR MY CAR TO BE FIXED 100% BEFORE END OF THIS WEEK.

Good Day Sakhe,

I am still waiting for confirmation from the panelbeaters and you. And so far there has been no communication whatsoever from the panelbeaters.

Regards

Good Day,

My car was picked up yesterday, as per the new arrangement by the panelbeater. When it came back, everything was indeed replaced but the left hand side of the front bumper was not totally in place; with noticeable gaps showing. I decided to take time off this morning and take the car to the panelbeater myself. They took it and worked on it for about 3 hours while i waited and the segment that was not okay was sorted out.

And upon my arrival at home and further inspection; There is small segmnent on the left fog light was left hannging out instead of inwards. So that is again one more thing that went out of place when they were trying to correct their initial mess. Panelbeaters claim to be certified to fix a certain brand of car but I am starting to question their expertise and knowledge of putting back my car together.

I refuse to make another trip to that panelbeater. If they were want to fix their mess again; they must again come collect my car and do a proper job or if they can not do that; Discovery must give me money to find another panelbeater who will take apart the front section of my car and put it back the way it is supposed to be.

Good Day,

The panelbeater sent out two mechanics to come sort out the problem this morning. They arrived and worked on what they could. The chrome bidding that was installed is showing a gap on the left hand side and they said they cant do anything about it since they have tried 3 times already to sort out when the car was brought to the shop. They say the cause might be a defective chrome bidding and as a result it is not aligning the way it is supposed to. Maybe they just hoped i wont notice it and all will be good. Sadly that is not the case, they must buy another replacement if they can not make this one fit the way it is supposed to.

My car is still under factory warranty and it was given to Hyundai certified panelbeaters who supposedly now can not put it back together properly. It is well within my rights to expect these parts to be fitted they way the car came out of the shop.

And for each day that this goes unresolved I will keep reminding Discovery of their choice in panelbeaters and the impact it has had on what looked like a simple and quick repair to my vehicle. This will be in the form of a bad review for each day that this stays unsettled. All parties involved should do their jobs that reflect the amount of monthly premuims paid and the quality they should yield when one is in need of those services.
