The 3 Month Claim

Before I provide a review my experience with Discovery, it must be noted that I had enaged Discovery several times both verbally and in writing to try and resolve my concerns, however it was not important to Discovery to resolve the said issues.

On the 15th of October (Todays date 16 Jan 2016), my wife was in a car accident. The vehicle was towed by one of Discovery's towing partners directly to their repair partner, Renew it Randburg, where it would be assessed for damages.

Damages were assessed within a week and a report on the damages compiled. In the coming week myself and my wife were interviwed by the assessor to ensure there was no foul play, and I brought it to the assessor attention that I noted steering/suspension damage at the time of the accident, but did not see this on the damage report. He promised to have a look into this.

After another 2 weeks, Discovery approved the claim and instrcuted Renew it to commence with repairs.

In early December, I receive a call from Renew It to tell me they had picked up an issue with the steering during quality control (Why was this not addressed when I brought this to the Discovery Representatives attention??). The vehicle (which had already been with Renew it for almost 2 months) now had to undergo another diagnostic with Ford to determine further repairs and thereafter be approved by Discovery.

Just before Christmas, Renew it provides feedback that the cost to repair the steering, coupled with the reapirs already done, exceed the retail value of the vehicle and that Discovery was considering writing the vehicle off.

Throughout all of this, I called and mailed Discovery to try and get answers as we are without a vehicle. To date I have not received any correspondence from Discovery, despite complaining telephonically and over email about my dissatisfaction with their poor communication and decision making.

3 months later, no car and no answers.

It takes Toyota roughly 17-18 hours to manufacture a vehicle - Discovery could not faciliate the repair on one in 3 months.

DO NOT USE DISCOVERY INSURE TO INSURE YOUR VEHICLE - THEY WILL LEAVE YOU HIGH & DRY

I received 3 phone calls on the same day as the review was posted. More calls than I had received from Discovery in the entire 3 months of waiting.
I was promised answers by the end of business day and received MORE excuses. Something about a laptop being locked and IT having to resolve? No correspondence received today.
REALLY Discovery?! Ownership should really form part your values system, because no one seems to take ownership of anything - PATHETIC
