****** car - still not returned
<p>My father's car got ****** in April out of his office's parking lot. He immediately reported it to Discovery Insure and started tracking it himself online. The car was found within hours and taken to the police station. However, they had assessed that the car's engine number was not the original engine number or that it had been tampered with. An investigation then started and between Discovery and Benoni police station this has carried on for months now with the car still not returned to us! It is now just standing in Benoni with no way for us to get it back. This car was purchased from a dealership and had undergone many inspections when it was purchased and when the insurance policy was taken out, thus if there was anything wrong with the engine number surely this should have been picked up at that time?! What is he supposed to drive with now and who is supposed to pay for it?? It has been 5 months!</p>

The issues you have raised sound very complicated and we have asked our claims division for a detailed report on the processing as well as the status of his claim.

We have appointed a recovery service provider to collect the vehicle for us. They have reverted advising that the investigation officer on the case has been changed and they are waiting for the investigator to give a date when we can be allowed to uplift the vehicle from the policy yard.
We are in constant communication with the service provider and doing everything possible to expedite the matter.
We are sorry that we have little control on the time lines of finalisation.
