Stay away - Discovery now increases monthly premiums by TWENTY-FIVE percent
Please can you tell me why my monthly insurance premium was first increased by TWENTY-FIVE percent, then after my complaint the increase was reduced to a SIXTEEN percent. You have not explained yourself. Do not try and phone me, I am overseas.

22 Aug 2024, 12:50 Thank you for your very prompt response, which is much appreciated. However, I would like you to please explain in detail how you arrive at my Loss Ratio as 60%, as the last claim paid out by Discovery Insure was in April 2023 for a tiny chip in my windscreen and for storm damage in 2022. Furthermore, windscreen claims are not included in Loss Ratio.
As you rightly point out, my anniversary increase is August of any given year, so please let me know why you did not increase my August 2023 (which comes AFTER April) premium by 25% as you did in August 2024?
If you are including the recent claim for my lightning-damaged electric fence energizer, there has been a big mistake because Discovery has not paid out one cent for that claim as it was denied.
Please explain a Loss Ratio of 60% when nothing was paid out since April 2023.
I am quite prepared to submit my complaint about this to the Insurance Ombudsman, as well the media in it various platforms.

22 Aug 2024, 15:18Thank you for your detailed and prompt response, believe me it is much appreciated.
However, I would ask you to please check your record of my claims history where the lightning-damaged energizer claim is reflected as 'accidental damage'. Please adjust the record to state the correct nature of the claim. When I notice discrepancies I no longer let 'things slide' as invariably they come back to 'bite' you in the future. This claim was lightning-damage.
As a point of interest, if ,as you say, the non-payout of the July 2024 rejected claim did not impact the Loss Ratio claim, why was the Loss Ratio not adjusted in August 2023. It seems coincidental that the huge increase occurred only now, after my most recent claim was rejected?
Kindly confirm the adjustment in my profile and again, thank you for your detailed and prompt response.

26 Aug 2024, 03:03Hello again. Please may I have feedback on the above issue. Please confirm that my claim was adjusted to lightning damage and not 'accidental' damage and you still haven't commented on my query as to why my premium suddenly escalated by 25% at the same time that my claim was rejected. Loss Ratio also existed last year but no 25% increase. In fact this back and forth and skirting about the issue is unproductive. Please provide the email address of one one of your senior consultants or email me.
