SISONYOUDISCOVER

SISONYOUDISCOVERY !!

I am a nurse – certainly a noble profession but notably not financially very rewarding. My car – a little Hyundai I10 is thus a prized possession that I have looked after for years. Recently I was involved in a bumper bashing on my way to visit friends. It happened next to Khayelitsha which is a very dangerous spot, but I nonetheless got out and inspected the damages. I noted they were minimal and it seemed more than fine to carry on and deal with the matter the following Monday. I visited the friends and upon departure the husband and wife walked out with me and inspected the damages noting they were minimal. Nobody ever noted any liquid emanating from the vehicle. I proceeded to drive home. After about 30 km’s my little car suddenly lost power and started steaming. I immediately stopped and called a tow truck. It turns out that the radiator had suffered damages which were not visible from the exterior as the “plastic” bumper etc. just bounces back and did not suffer any severe damage. My little car has a warning light but I did not see anything – it does not flicker or make a sound and I took care to check the damage twice to make sure it was safe to drive. I have comprehensive cover and had I suspected it was dangerous to drive I would immediately have had the vehicle towed. To cut a long story short – at some point – the Discovery “expert” cannot say exactly when, the vehicle overheated, and the engine got damaged. Discovery have now refused to repair the engine – they say I did not exercise “due care”. I am a nurse – I value my little car – it is in exceptional condition, showing how well I look after it BUT still they claim I was reckless !! This is not a large claim for Discovery but it is a huge loss for me. Discovery very clearly does not care !
