Shocking Treatment

I am highly disappointed in Discovery Insure! Not only is the way in which Discovery have handled this situation - very unprofessionally, but this has been extremly stressful!

We experienced total loss of household goods and water damaged Honda Civic in the flooding and burst pipe of 25 July 2016 in La Lucia.

1. Honda Civic - I have been advised (2 weeks later) that the car will not be written off but will be fixed instead! This is unacceptable. The water level of that the vehicle was submerged in was as high as the CD player. I know this because when I took the CD out of the car, water came out as well. I have been told by many people who have knowledge of vehcile repairs in such incidents, that in no way will this car ever work the same. I looked after that car and had taken out an additional 2 year warrantee earlier this year. The warrantee is effective August 2016 as this is the 4 year anniversary of the purchase of the vehicle. This warrantee will now fall away because of the water damage. I refuse to accept that Discovery will not take the word of Honda Umhlanga and have it reassessed by them. I also refuse to accept that this vehicle will be repaired without Discovery covering it for any faults for the next 2 years. I will take this as far as I have to, I will not be bul**** by Discovery!

2. My Ford Ranger was scratched when reversing out of the flooding garage while debris floated about. Discovery agreed to have it repaired but this morning when I took it to Palace Panel and Paint (as approved by Discovery), the panel beaters told me that the scratches on the door etc was not approved??? How does that work? When I took it to be assessed at Flanagans last week (per Discovery's instruction), I showed the Assessor the other scratches too???

3. I was told that the household contents were under-insured??? How is that possible? It is a 1 bedroom garden cottage!!! We are minimalistic and do not live in excess. I was NEVER told that minimum for 2 people to be insured is R250,000?? I refuse to accept less than what I have insured the contents for which is R133,000.00
