Shocking premium increases from Discovery

The initial offer may be great but beware, they will hike your premium if you blink an eye! Below is a copy of an email I sent to them and they did not even have the decency to respond. When I insisted on the reason for this unusually high increase I was told inflation is high. When I called after having another hike in my premium since last month I was told I could increase my excess to get a lower premium.

"It is with great concern and dismay that I note my annual premium increase from R ****** last month to R ******X this month, a 16.42% increase which I consider extreme.

I also had no claim or late payment the previous year that could contribute to this considerable increase either.

Upon further investigation it gets even more shocking as my premium for January 2022 was R***X , a 41.7% increase in a calendar year

If you find this reasonable I am shocked.

I am also upset that I have to literally “fight” with my insurance company every year just to get a fair increase in my premium.

Please reconsider and if you think the increase is fair please elaborate."
