Pushing Sales

Got a call from Discovery Insure, offering to change my insurance and provide me with a number of benefits. They put everything in the system and told me what my premiums would be. They wanted me to switch immediately, activate the policy they offered and cancel my current insurance. I’ve been with my current insurer for over 10 years and would not make a decision lightly over the phone. I wanted them to email me the documents so that I could read over everything, think about it and not make a rushed decision but they kept pushing me to make the decision on the spot saying they would send the documents in 24hrs but I need to activate and cancel my current insurance. I am a fan of Discovery so it was disappointing - the agent and manager were very friendly and gave good service but I felt that it was inappropriate to be pushed into making a decision immediately. I think agents need to be given more training to listen to what the customer is saying instead of pushing their own agenda.

Hi there, I’m not comfortable sharing my ID number on this platform but they called me on ***. The call took place on Monday 21 October at 08:09 and the duration was 46minutes.

My intention is not to get anyone in trouble, the telephone manner was good but I felt pushed and the more I said no, the more I was pushed. This may work on some of your customers but I don’t think it’s the right way to do business.

Many thanks,
Chantelle
