Private Information is it Public knowledge?

Some telesales rep phones met twice with all my personal info in front of him. My question to him is how did he get hold of that info. It is not public knowledge, he argues with me that it is out there. I said no it is not, he puts the phone down in my ear. It happened 2 times.
