Poor Service
I logged a claim with Discovery Insure for my stove that stopped working on the 4th of June 2022. We were busy cooking, there was a loud bang, smoke and the power tripped. When we switched the power back on, only 1 plate was working. I acquired the stove with the purchase of my property about 4 years ago,
Discovery sent someone out on the 7th June 2022 to assess and I received feedback that my claim was denied because my stove gave in due to age and wear and tear. I disputed this because to my knowledge, wear and tear would be for a door that I continuously open and close, friction, etc but an electronic component either works or it does not...how do you determine wear and tear on age with the type of assessment your assessors came out to do??
I asked for a second opinion and discovery sent a second party to assess with the same results, stating that the top element was faulty and wear and tear.
Anthony Makgosa spoke to his managers and apparently because the stove is connected through my DB Board, it should be covered through my building insurance, which is utter nonsense. It's connected in this way as a safety precaution and many households insured under Discovery are connected in this way.
So, I would like for Discovery to come to my house and tell me and their customers, WHICH of the items in my home is not covered by my content Insurance due to age and wear and tear...how do Discovery determine this and which items in my home should I not bother claiming for because after almost ten days, it seems to me that Discover's claims Department’s main purpose was to find excuses not to pay out my claim, instead of trying to help their customer.
I’m not impressed by the service I received and would not recommend Discovery Insure to Anyone.
What is the age limit of items for it to be covered under Discovery Insure?
