Poor service

Good Afternoon

My issue here is not the rejected claim but, it is the poor service from discovery that also lead me to cancel my policy with them.

I logged a claim on 12 Nov 2020 for a fire in my car. It started at the ignition of the car. It was only after numerous calls and a couple of days later that they car was collected. I got the email from the rejecting the claim on 29 December 2020

I had to make numerous amounts off calls and emails to get this to a conclusion. Today I got contacted by Auction Nation that my car must be collected before the 14th , I feel they could have arranged to bring me my car back.

I also noted the the claim document from discovery said it was not fire and the message from Auction nation says they cant make me an offer as there are fire damage to the vehicle.

Back to my initial complaint, it has been nearly 2 months and I am still without a car. I feel that the service received here was completely unacceptabe and I want you please take this up with them. If this claim was rejected within a week after it was submitted I could have had it fixed and be able to move around. Being without a car for this long made me extremely aggitated. I had to make so many arrangements to get to work and back for me and my girlfriend, sometimes we had to walk. Getting to the stores was even more of a challenge and costed me alot of money.

Once again, I do not understand why I had to wait almost two months for an answer on a claim. Is having insurance not supposed to make life easier? Instead it costed me alot of money, frustration and inconvenience. Also note that I had to still pay my premiums during this time.

Me and my girlfriend are working in the hospitality industry, this was peak season for us we work different hours and days. This turned into a nightmare for both of us making me feel like a weak man as I was not able to do anything about this but to wait for an answer. Everytime she would ask me, I would just say I am waiting for Discovery.

Kind Regards Michael Bester
