No point in having insurance with Discovery Insure

I was involved in an accident that was caused by another individual that is unemployed and uninsured. I submitted my claim to Discovery and duly went off and had the car assessed as per the instructions. Discovery promptly came back and said the car was written off which I refused as I couldn't afford to get another car with what they would pay out. When I saw the quote I asked the claims agent if we could maybe do away with the spray painting of the car and this would bring the claim down to around R10 000, she said she would escalate to management who basically said either write off the car or withdraw the claim. After numerous attempts for over a week to get management to call me, I was called by a person that abruptly told me that my claim was rejected and he would forward me the details of the insurance ombudsman and I can lay a complaint there. What I find incredibly shocking is that while the claims agent tried to assist and was very helpful, management treat you as little more than a reference number and don't seem to realise the impact of what they probably consider a minor decision can have on their customers. After years of always paying my premiums, when I actually need their assistance I am left out to dry and Discovery Insure will not even bother to try and find a middle ground. I now have to find a way of paying for the repairs myself because if I had to accept the write off it would leave me carless. It's quite ironic that the emails I was sent had a banner on that had a picture of 2 smiling and laughing people when all they have brought to me are tears.
