My Insurance cancelled without my knowledge

My car was being driven for more than a month without insurance because discovery cancelled my insurance without notifying. Apparently on the 23rd of December 2019, discovery tried to debit my account and they couldn't find funds as they claimed. I am quite certain that there were funds on the day in question because on the 21st, 24th and 27th there were debit orders that ran successfully according to my bank statement. I was out of the country at the time, so my cellphone was off but my i could access the email. At no time did discovery notify me of unsuccessful debit order. I only found out on 28 January 2020 that I was not insured. I then called them to reinstate it and I got the message bellow:

"You will have cover from today , 28/01/2020 as per your request. Cover will be subject to discovery insure debiting the premiums and risk management's aproval."

I called discovery today and the consultant was very rude.

So technically I am not insured.
