Lies and incompetence

Our CCTV DVR and television started to malfunction at the same time. Discovery Insure sent two assessors to our house (one from Chata and one from CAT Electronics) and both came to the conclusion that the CCTV hard drive was broken. I ordered two new hard drives from Takealot and none worked. We submitted a report to Discovery Insure that a power surge caused the damage. They decided to ignore this. Eventually we decided to replace the DVR and hard disk at a cost of R5200. When we connected to new power supply to the old, supposedly broken machine, it worked perfectly. Note that these power supplies are identical. After all there was absolutely nothing wrong with the hard disk. The power surge damaged the power supply. We are on their purple plan and pay almost R6000 a month for insurance. To reject our claim and supply us with false information is nothing less than *****. Luckily they took photographs of the hard disk. They now have the serial number of the "broken" hard disk and I can prove the disk works perfectly fine. After confronting the assessor with this information I was offered a 50% refund on the money we wasted because "mistakes happen". I was begged not to go to social media with this. We went beyond what is expected to prove to Discovery that the assessors made a mistake. It is not a client's responsibility to make sure the assessors are qualified. Discovery Insure is to blame for this. I can only imagine what will happen if we have a large claim. Can you really trust Discovery Insure if their assessors can't do their job?

The horror continues. Let me know if explain:

1. We were told, in writing, the hard disk is faulty.
2. Two new hard disks were ordered and none worked.
3. We decided to replace the DVR and hard disk.
4. We plugged in the new power supply from the new DVR into the old system with the "broken" hard disk.
5. The old system worked PERFECTLY! THE "BROKEN" HARD DISK TOO!
6. A power surge damaged the power supply.
7. Because we were misled by your report thousands of rands were wasted!
8. The assessor should have pointed out the power supply was broken. A new power supply costs less than R100.
9. A video of this will soon be on YouTube and various social media platforms.
10. I will not take these drastic steps if I wasn't able to prove I'm right and you supp**** us with false information. You were given an opportunity to correct your mistake.
