JUST LOOKING FOR REASONS NOT TO PAY!

<p>I am a owner of a brokerage and just had my first personal building claim. So far it's been a nightmare!</p> <p>Last week we had the flash storms that cause the floods in east area of Joburg. Unfortunately my property was badly affected and more than half my front wall collpased, my shadenet ********** and roof tiles broke off!</p> <p>I contacted Discovery on the same day because I was shocked! Assessor never bothered to contact me and eventually when they came they gave me very vague answers and seemed as though they had more important jobs and my claim was not of interest. I followed up because it's a high security risk to have the front wall of your house exposed and open. I even went and bought R2000 of fencing to block off the area to prevent any access. I never claimed for these additional costs.</p> <p>I then asked another reputable building company to provide a report and quote and as I knew the wall damage is quite extensive and needs to be re-built properly!</p> <p>The silly unprofessional assessor that came to my property evaluated that I had not done enough to prevent water from causing this damage. Yet, I have wall openings to allow follow of water and I could NEVER prevent or predict the storm we had last week Wednesday. Several homes and including the golf course in my area also had collpased walls and fences and this assessor wants to get rid of me by saying that I should have done something to prevent this claim! Honestly, are you kidding me!!! </p> <p>Where does Disccovery find these people!? It seems that despite paying premiums and even taking increases of more than 12% p.a. Discovery Insure wants to pay nothing on claims and clients must smile and accept! Hell no! </p> <p>I have demanded another assessor and if this does not result in the right outcome I have every intention of taking this claim to the short-term Ombudsman. I will win! I will never sell this product to my clients if this is how clients are treated and claims are handled!</p> <p>Shocking that the providers you want to promote to clients are just not interested in paying out honest claims. Discovery Insure thinks we all should have guessed that the flash storm was going to be as severe and cause so much damaged.</p>
