Insurance Query
Called Discovey Insure before debit date for July , to give them updated banking details in order for them to debit on time. Spoke to a lady who then took my details and did not update me with more info that date i called was too close to my debit date and dr order has been send out to my bank already. Then few days later i get sms and email that my policy is in errors and will be debited after 15days . then on 13/08 i received an sms to inform me my insurance has lapsed and need make app to remove Ctrack on my car. Then i called and explained my problem was put through retentions dept was assisted by lady called Boitumelo Mathatho, who reistated by insurance but was now a new insurance was due to pay pro rata which i did not have and remained uninsured fews days before debit order went out on 25.08, which i felt was so unfair and not thought for as i was not at the wrong did communicate on time to avoid any issues but i ended suffering and no care whats so ever. Imagine if i was ****** or been involved in accident then i will be in deep **** as my insurance was lapsed.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by this situation abut we have completed our investigation into the matter and confirm the following:
You called us on the 24th of July 2015 to change your bank account details on the initial policy but as you are debited on the 25th of every month there was absolutely no way to stop the debit order from running on the old bank account within one day.
On the 28th of July 2015 we then sent you a text message to inform you that we would debit you again within 15 days for the outstanding premium but that debit order also returned as unpaid. As such we had no choice but to lapse the policy.
In terms of the cover on the new policy it is and will always be completely your choice as to when you can afford to start your cover but regardless of the date you choose we have to collect the first premium within 24 - 48 hours from date of activation. You could not afford to pay that premium within that timeline and this is why we could only start the policy when you had the funds i.e. the 25th of August 2015.
If you have any further questions please call ***or email ***.
Kind Regards
